Obama: Church’s Action May Invoke Recruitment Bonanza For Al-Qaeda

Washington, United States (AHN) – Just one day after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. Commanders in Afghanistan warned against Florida church’s decision to burn Koran’s on the 9/11 anniversary, U.S. President Barack Obama also said that this move could put American troops’ life at risk.

Obama, in an interview with ABC television, said that Terry Jones, organizer of the event, must understand that his plans were completely contrary to American values, which were based on the concept of freedom and religious tolerance.

He added that the act would result in serious violence in Pakistan or Afghanistan. It will also increase the recruitment of suicide bombers, who are keen on blowing themselves up in American cities or European cities.

“This is a recruitment bonanza for al-Qaeda,” Obama said. “

And as a very practical matter, I just want him to understand that this stunt that he is talking about pulling could greatly endanger our young men and women who are in uniform in Afghanistan and Pakistan,” the president said.

Despite their unhappiness, the U.S. authorities could not stop the church from its planned as the country’s constitution allows the freedom of speech to every individual, entity.
