When we think about grants, the first thing that comes to the first thing that comes to mind for many of us is education. This is not just due to the fact that there are a lot of grants available for education. It is due to the fact that this concept has been with us for quite some time now. It has given departments and students alike areas to venture into, areas that apart from the grant they would never have entered.

Types of Education Grants

There are many types of grants provided by the government, non-profit organisations as well as within the private sector. There are education grants available for children as well as for adults.

For example, there is the Toshiba America Foundation that provides grants that will help K-12 students in the areas of Mathematics and Science. On the other hand, there is also the Citi Group Foundation they provide grants for those who are pursuing a course (studies) in Financial Education.

There are also other areas of studies that they provide grants in.

Online Application

In the United States of America, the US Department of Education has provided e-Application (On-line) to assist in the application for grants. Therefore by using this avenue your application will be delivered to the correct department. Along with that it will reach the department a lot quicker.

By applying online you will also be given access to certain areas that normally you would have had to call or email about. By that I mean you will have access to your profile among other things along that same line. So seeking out organisations that provides grants for education online will be helpful to you in more case than one.

Other Organisations

The government, as I have alluded to before is not the only organisation that provides education grants. There are non-profit organisations as well as foundations that does this. The Annenbery Foundation as well as the Albertson is just a few such agencies.

Different Types

Education grants are made available to both individuals as well as to organisations. Therefore, when checking out education grants, it is a good idea to be certain about the type of grant and to whom the grant is being offered.

Use your Situation

Education grants are also offered to certain groups of people. For example, the African American Success Foundation speaks for itself. Therefore it goes without saying that those who are African American and are in need of an education grant in the areas that this foundation deals with, should be taking a look here. I will also add that paying close attention to the persons that a grant is been offered to will save you a lot of time and energy.

There are also education grants that are specifically for women. For example, the Altruse Foundation offers grants to women who are living in “third world countries”; and desire to study in one of the collages in the United States of America that the Foundation is satisfied with.

Being a single mother at a very young age can be difficult. Not only will you need to worry about the welfare of your child, you also have to worry about continuing your education. So how can a single mother at age of eighteen afford to go to college and take care of her child at the same time? Fortunately, the government can provide you with a financial aid to ease the burden for you.

Financial aid

There are many types of financial aids that can help a single mother continue her academic pursuits. In order to get these grants, you need to fill out a form from the Free Application For Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. The application process will take around three days to a week, but once you have completed the requirements, you will be able to start college right away. The requirements for applying for this program include:

* being a valid citizen of the United States

* social security number

* a high school diploma or a general education development certificate or pass and approved ability-to-benefit test

* be enrolled or accepted as a regular student working to attain a specific degree.

Aside from these requirements, your eligibility for financial aids also depends on the income tax of your parents or dependents. So if you are a single teenage mother but your family is well-off, then your application for these aids may be denied by the federal government. The amount of funds that the government will provide you will also depend on your income tax. So the single moms with a high income tax who are accepted in the program may be funded a lesser amount of money. Once you have been accepted, you will also need to keep a certain grade point average in order to maintain your aid.

Government Grants provides detailed information on Government Grants, Free Government Grants, Government Business Grants, Debt Relief Government Grants and more. Government Grants is affiliated with Federal Government Grants.

Have you ever known a couple that would have made wonderful parents but they were unable to have children on their own? Did you wonder why they did not adopt children? It could have been because adoption is prohibitively expensive. There are though, some organizations out there that are willing to supply couples with grants for just such a purpose. Many though, are not familiar with the availability of these grants.

Adoption grants are a form of financial aid offered to people who want to be parents. These grants are offered by all states to couples and parents who wish to adopt and live with their adopted children. Most of these are only for those adoption cases that happen within the United States but there are a few that are offered for international adoptions as well. Those that handle international adoptions are usually from the private sector.

There are close to one hundred organizations that offer grants for adoption purposes. There are some that have certain restrictions, terms, and conditions to certain children or adoptions. Prospective parents have to be sure that they can meet the guidelines and criteria set by the organization that they are working with. Each set of parents need to be sure that they know what these guidelines are so that they are not met with surprises or disappointments down the line. They also need to know if there are limitations of the grant so they can bring up the slack that the grant may not cover if need be.

Please find below a partial list of possible grant information:

Acres of Hope, Inc.

One of the most recognized not for profit organizations dedicated to providing educational information and support for those families who have children with emotional or physical challenges. Among its services are emotional support, advocacy services, loan programs, and financial assistance for these families. This organization also seeks to promote greater community understanding and support. They also offer grants and other financial aids to make their mission possible.

National Adoption Foundation

This organization does have a few grants to offer but they are quite limited. They do have unsecured to offer through a revolving nine million dollar loan bank that they have. They use this for those families who are thinking or planning to adopt a child but they cannot afford the adoption process costs.

The International Adoption Center

This organization provides grants to those families that qualify for them and want to adopt a child but cannot afford to do so. The grant that the family can receive is believed to be about a thousand dollars per couple. The couple needs to write a letter stating their need for the money. This letter is submitted to the organization along with any other documents that can support their argument that they need the money in order to adopt a child.

Today childcare centers are gaining importance as a profitable business. Many people are seeking advice to obtain grants to start their own childcare center, expand their program, or upgrade their facilities.

One way to locate financing for your childcare business is to:

Check with your local bank
Research and obtain venture capital
Seek gifts and loans from family and friends
Look for advice from incubator organizations
Obtain counsel from local small business and women’s associations

In a few states, special loan programs have been developed to help childcare centers access immediate funds at affordable rates, like Washington and Oregon’s Cascadian Child Care Fund.

On-line Resources

Independent childcare business owners can also try the Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, a service of The Foundation Center at http://www.fdncenter.org. For a small fee per month (payable by credit card), the Foundation Center offers online listings of Grants to Individuals in the U.S.

Requesting Guidelines and Applications

Once you have completed your initial research and found potential grant funding, the next step involves contacting them and request their latest application and funding guidelines. If the program is operated by a foundation, also request their annual report. It is a good idea to view some common grant applications online so you know what to look for when your information comes in.

Grant/Funding Information Processing

Once you have received various funding information packets and applications, read them carefully and make notes about specific guidelines. Review which of the funding opportunities are available for a childcare center and whether your business plan fits their criteria. Examples of information you would find on a funding information packet would be: the type of program for which funding is available, eligibility requirements, location and populations served, and application deadlines, and so on.

Contact Funding Agencies Directly

Funding guidelines and applications can be quite extensive. While reviewing the guidelines and application, make notes of any questions you may have. Most funding agencies will assist you in completing your application for funding, and will appreciate that you have taken the time to get all the facts before submitting your proposal. Funding proposals are often set aside and not reviewed due to incomplete information, therefore it is critical to review your application to ensure you have met all the eligibility requirements and submitted all the necessary paperwork.

Prepare Your Cover Letter and Proposal

A cover letter is usually required with each proposal submitted. Again, check the guidelines of the funding agencies. Each agency will have different paperwork requirements.

Don’t Give Up

The best advice you can receive as you begin your quest for funding for your childcare center is not to become discouraged. Funding agencies typically receive a lot more proposals than they fund. So apply to more than one funding organization, and follow each organization’s instructions very carefully as to what they want in a proposal, and you will have a much better chance of obtaining funding for your childcare center.

Do you need free money to help achieve your dream? The government may be able to help you. The federal government is committed to improving the United States economy. In order to maintain a stable, vibrant economy, U.S. citizens must be productive. With the intention of encouraging productivity among American residents, the federal government gives away free money for taxpayers to use toward education, housing, small business investments, and other personal expenses.

Free money is available because government officials are well aware of some of the setbacks that U.S. citizens encounter when trying to achieve the American Dream. Many citizens strive to contribute to the success of the United States economy. Society has set standards that dictate success among the American people. The major components of success in America are education, home ownership, business ownership, and retirement. There are several reasons why many taxpayers find it difficult to achieve success.

With technological advancements on the rise, it is nearly impossible to function in society without a post-secondary education. Many citizens have pursued a college education. Unfortunately, some have dropped out. Others have avoided college all together. Some of the most common reasons why individuals delay their college education are:

”	They cannot afford it.

”	They want to avoid accumulating loans.

”	They already owe a substantial amount of money in school loans.

”	Interest rates are too high for individuals with a poor credit history.
Increasing the number of homeowners in the United States has a positive effect on the American economy. Free grant money is available for prospective homeowners. In order to encourage taxpayers to pursue buying a home, local government programs have been created to help individuals with down payment and closing costs.

Small businesses help to stabilize the U.S. economy. There are many benefits to starting a small business. Some individuals desire to start their own business, but find it difficult to begin the process. Many prospective entrepreneurs do not pursue starting or expanding their small business for the following reasons:

”	They do not have enough money for startup costs.

”	They cannot afford to hire more employees.

”	They cannot afford to lease more space or purchase more office equipment.
Government officials recognize that small businesses help to improve communities, create jobs, and generate tax revenue. Because of the major impact that small businesses have on the economy, the government grants free money to prospective entrepreneurs who desire to have small businesses.

The government gives away millions of dollars in free money every year. Grants are available for personal expenses such as housing, education, small businesses, and retirement. Now is the time to apply for a government grant. Toward the end of the year, fewer funds are available. As a result, the chances of getting free money will decrease dramatically.

The 6 Important Steps

There are many questions circulating these day’s on how to get grants to start up a small business or daycare. Unfortunately I’m here to tell you that if you are a non-profit daycare finding “free” money will be difficult. But don’t give up, just because the government is unwilling to supplement a business start ups cost doesn’t mean that it’s totally hopeless. It is your duty to be creative in coming up with the supplies that you will need to start up your business. In the home study course, www.instantdaycareprofits.com many of these issues are addressed. Realistically you can set up a very profitable business if you think a little differently from everyone else.

One tip is non-profit independent child care business owners can try a service called, “Foundation Grants to Individuals Online”. This service is an online listing offering grants to individuals in the U.S. To learn more you can go to http://www.fdncenter.org. There is a charge of $9.95 per month for this service.

Here are some important steps in finding childcare grant money:

1. Do your due diligence and research. Your first step should be calling your licensing bureau office, referral agency, and child care organizations. The other organizations that also should be called an are affiliated with childcare are: Head Start, Child Care and Development Fund, Social Services Block Grant, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Even Start, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

While these organizations are affiliated with childcare, you also may be able to find an organization that would be willing to grant you money. Keep into consideration backyard organizations such as: Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, and United Way.

Also, keep in mind corporations and businesses in your area. Many a time I will enter a business and ask them if they have anything they would like to contribute. One example would be going to a paper factory, stationary etc or any office that throws out paper. Remember, you need paper for your daycare and would be able to utilize what they consider trash.

2. After you have contacted the above mentioned organizations your next step would be to request their guidelines and applications. At this point and time necessary information should be collected to determine whether you and the funder are a good fit. One research tool that would help you in your determination would be Grant Smart (http://www.grantsmart.com/search/search001.html)

3. Write a description of your need for money. You will have a discuss why you need the money and what your purpose will be for those funds. Other questions that you should be asking yourself is, why should the project be done?, how long will it take?, how much it will cost?, who will do the work?, and most of all, how will it impact the quality of childcare you will provide?

4. Prepare your proposal letter. Your letter will encompass and expand on why you need the grant funds, and what your purpose is behind it, and how it will benefit your program. Be sure to include any statistics and demographics that will influence your cause. Attach any letters of support from parents, people in the community advocating your project. As well, make sure that you have fine tuned any financial numbers or budget considerations for this project.

5. Be patient and organized. Make sure that all your papers are organized into folders; there will be a time that you will need to wait. Fund organizations do receive other proposals so be patient

If you’re starting or running a daycare center in the US, you’ll be happy to know that there are grants available from various sources for daycare providers. However, most private and for-profit child day care business can only get grants from new business start-up programs and a few other programs operated by provincial and state governments, usually under the department of Children and family services. Most of the grants for daycare are only available to care providers with non-profit status.

Grants for daycare – Private and For-profit Daycare Businesses

Private and for-profit daycare businesses may be able to get grants for daycare from the Child and Adult Care Food Program, local, state, or provincial programs being offered through licensing offices, Child Care Resource and Referral Agency and the Children’s and Family Services Office.

Your business may also want to look into special loan programs such as those administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). Businesses may also be able to get some grants for daycare from organisations that finance business started by women, minorities and businesses located in certain regions. Other sources of financing include bank loans, venture capital, gifts and loans from family and friends and local small business associations.

One of the best sources of information about organisations that provide grants for daycare is books about starting a daycare business. These books often include detailed information about where to get the grants including telephone numbers and website addresses. One such book is the Day Care Center Start-Up Guide Kit which includes information on daycare business financing. More information about this book is available at http://www.businesstartupsguide.com/daycare

When researching possible sources for daycare grants, look for foundations and organisations or corporations that support families and children. Also, you should register with www.fdncenter.org which provides a listing of foundations that award grants to individuals. Remember that there’s a lot of competition for grants. You’ll need to apply to a lot of organisations and foundations. If you get a negative reply from one organisation, don’t give up, try another. Some foundations will suggest other organisations that may be able to help.
